2025 President's Message

 

Saskatchewan, "The Land of Living Skies", well known for its amazing sunrises and sunsets, is home to this award winning RIMS chapter. SKRIMS is committed to continuing to offer networking opportunities and provide educational content for our members.

 

2024 was another very exciting year for SKRIMS and I was honoured to accept a 2024 Chapter Award on behalf of the Saskatchewan Chapter at the RIMS Conference in San Diego. The Chapter was recognized as a 2024 Chapter Award winner by RIMS through the Chapter Recognition Program for our achievements as a chapter in 2023. Having virtual lunch and learns has provided SKRIMS members with the opportunity to hear from risk management professionals across the globe deliver first rate professional development content. 

 

A special congratulations to our very own Chelsea Andrusiak (Vice President North of SKRIMS) who received the RIMS Rising Star Award at the 2024 RIMS Conference.  This award recognizes an individual that has demonstrated exceptional initiative, volunteerism, professional development, achievement, and leadership potential early in their career.

 

We were thrilled to announce the launch of the Saskatchewan RIMS Chapter Scholarship and we are excited to award a scholarship of $1,000 to a student seeking a career in Risk Management, Insurance, Cyber Security or Actuarial Science. Our goal is to provide financial assistance, mentorship, and networking opportunities to help individuals thrive in their careers. Must be a Saskatchewan resident and a student member of RIMS to enter. Applications for the 2025-2026 academic year are being accepted until June 30, 2025.

 

We will be continuing with the “Win Your Way to the RIMS Canada Conference Contest” for 2025 open to all SKRIMS members who attend our events. This year will we be drawing for two people to go to the RIMS Canada Conference September 14-17 in Calgary. 

v  You could WIN a RIMS Canada Conference Registration and Hotel       expenses up to $2,500!

v  For every SKRIMS event that you attend between June 2024 and the   AGM in May 2025, eligible SKRIMS members will receive an entry to the   draw for the contest.  (Example: Jane Smith attends 2 virtual lunch and   learns, 1 networking event and the AGM. She will receive 4 entries to   the draw for the contest). 

v  Draw will be held in-person at the AGM in Saskatoon in May 2025.

v  Please contact any board member if you have questions or would like   more information.

SKRIMS is excited to host the Annual General Meeting along with a highly anticipated Education Session and Networking.

SKRIMS 40th Anniversary Celebration

On May 12, 2022, current and former members and guests of SKRIMS met at Mosaic Stadium in Regina to celebrate our 40th anniversary as a RIMS Chapter.  We were delighted to have Steve Pottle, Chair of the RIMS Canada Council, join us for this celebration.

2023 RIMS Echo Award

SKRIMS was one of 5 chapters honored with a RIMS Enhancing Chapter Outcomes (ECHO) at the 2023 RIMS Conference in Atlanta.  SKRIMS was recognized for increasing opportunities for education and networking opportunities through a combination of in person and virtual meetings.
